Walk Softly, LLC, is led by Harvey Harman, a recognized leader with impressive experience in project management, green building and ecological real estate development.
Mr. Harman has a wide range of skills and experience. Expertise includes farming/landscaping, conservation based land development and sustainable community development. He is also a licensed building and plumbing contractor.
A cum laude graduate of Duke University, Harvey began his career in the early 1980's as a small business owner in plumbing and home repair. After five years in business, and another six years as a development worker in South Africa, Harvey returned to the Triangle and began a successful organic farm in Chatham County. Harvey's vision turned Sustenance Farm into a national model as both farm and educational facility.
Harvey is a project initiator with outstanding successes to date. Those efforts were instrumental in the creation of the Sustainable Farming Program at Central Carolina Community College - now considered one of the top programs in the country. He helped launch the present Sanford Farmers Market, which is ongoing. Harvey is also involved in many additional community and regional organizations.
Today, Harvey turns his inspired talents to green building and real estate development. His vision is to create neighborhoods and homes that embrace the environment and provide family-friendliness through social interaction. To date, Harvey has managed no less than seven conservation-based developments in the Triangle area.
From an agricultural focus to urban infill, Harvey's projects are highly successful and in great demand. These ventures include: downtown revitalization and economic development; to a recreation-oriented land preservation project along a major river corridor. He has also overseen three exemplary projects for Chatham County's Habitat for Humanity chapter.
