Our Vision at Walk Softly Minimize

Sustainable Developments=Sustainable Communities

Walk Softly, LLC, creates communities that have a sense of place; a place where both people and the environment exist together in a sustainable way.  The following are all ingredients to making this vision a reality.

Conservation Measures

The land's natural benefits will be preserved for the residents of the community.

Designs and technologies are used that have the least impact to the environment.

Natural resources are conserved leaving a diversity of plant, animal and bird species in the sustainable development.

Avoid the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Self-sufficiency and independent food production

The community is encouraged to take care of its own needs as much as possible. For example, rainwater can be saved and reused for watering gardens; landscaping can be edible in the form of fruit and nut trees; car pooling can save transportation costs and on-site solar or geothermal systems can produce some of the community's energy needs.

In addition, Walk Softly, LLC promotes independent food production with organic gardens or even small farms.  The developer, Harvey Harman, is a well-known and experienced organic farmer and is happy to provide advice and support to owners for setting up gardens and edible landscapes.

Connections with the Natural Environment

At Walk Softly communities these connections are honored and encouraged.  Trees and landscapes are preserved with limited change to the natural beauty of the existing scenery.

All developments have scenic walking trails, bike paths and open community spaces.

Sense of Neighborhood

Just imagine a place where you feel at "home", not only in your own house but within the entire development.

All the residents have a common interest in an ecologically friendly environment.  Everyone takes pride in keeping the balance between nature and people, while naturally providing tremendous benefits to both.

Community spaces are encouraged and you choose how you wish to relate to others:  community center and open spaces, picnic areas, fishing ponds, organic gardens, walking trails and more.

Health and Wellness

All Walk Softly communities give priority to the overall health and well-being of the community.

Research continues to show that making the local community environment conducive to natural exercise and healthy places to live, can greatly assist in the reduction of at least two important health risks - heart disease and obesity.
